On December 31, Buddhist temples around the world ring Japanese temple bells 108 times to welcome the new year and escape the 108 mortal desires that torment humanity. Join Rev. Gengo Akiba and community leader Yoshie Akiba in a purification ritual to laud the new year, and take a turn at ringing the 2,100-pound, 16th-century Japanese temple bell.
