The Stuff of Life: SF Trade Catalogs

San Francisco Public Library

The California Gold Rush and the Nevada silver boom that followed propelled San Francisco into its position as the pre-eminent manufacturing and importing center on the West Coast. The San Francisco History Center presents a selection of the catalogs that marketed these products. Whether supplying stamp mills to mining operations, or toys to youngsters, trade catalogs helped bring material goods to people's homes.
