Benny Golson

A tenor saxophone legend and 1995 NEA Jazz Master, Golson composed many of jazz's most treasured standards including "Killer Joe," "I Remember Clifford" and "Whisper Not." He makes a rare West Coast appearance with his quartet.

This is what SF/Arts curator Jesse Hamlin has to say about Benny Golson :

The masterly 92-year-old saxophonist and composer Benny Goldson, a big-toned Philadelphian who wrote the jazz classics “Whisper Not,” “Killer Joe,” “I Remember Clifford” and “Blues March” as well as music for M*A*S*H and other TV shows, leads his quartet on the main stage at SFJAZZ.
