This year the popular homegrown event has a strong slate of music docs that includes “How Sweet the Sound: The Blind Boys of Alabama.” (Fans of HBO’s “The Wire” may recall hearing their soulful harmonies under the opening credits.) Shot over a period of 10 years, the film recounts the stories of the men who met in the 1930s when they were children at the segregated Talladega Institute for the Blind, formed a gospel group, and hit the road.
