Cat Power! Felines on Film

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts

Presenting a variety of feline films for all ages and tastes in Cat Power! Felines on Film. This curated series of films is centered around furry, friendly, frisky, and occasionally fearsome feline friends. Drawing on a wide range of genres featuring everything from kid-friendly flicks such as Disney‘s classic The Aristocats to bizarre live-action movies like the crime-thriller Eye of the Cat, we'll consider the soothing and sometimes otherworldly nature of cats who maintain their mystery even as they grudgingly let us love them.

This is what SF/Arts curator Sura Wood had to say about Cat Power! Felines on Film :

In this series devoted to felines, cats rule on celluloid just as they do in life. The program includes “Cat’s Eye,” a trio of Stephen King stories; “The Aristocrats,” about a high society cat that inherits millions; and Paul Schrader’s “Cat People,” an erotic horror movie about a young woman played by Nastassja Kinski, whose primal urges reveal her true feline nature and an after-dark affinity with black panthers.
