Mercury 20 Gallery/Oakland

Jill McLennan watches her neighborhood transformed by development and records that history as her chosen refuge vanishes. An uncertain future looms over residents in the form of condos and a growing population. Cranes and birds that once frequented the estuary and wetlands have turned into construction cranes. McLennan is a participant in this urban displacement and renewal as a tenant, landlord, teacher, learner, observer and activist.
