No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man

Oakland Museum of California

Marvel at the spectacular artwork and large-scale installations from one of the most widely-celebrated cultural events in the world when No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man takes over OMCA in Fall of 2019. The immersive and multi-sensory experience will extend beyond the gallery walls into the Museum's public spaces--including an OMCA-commissioned 40-foot-tall outdoor temple by internationally-acclaimed sculptor David Best.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock has to say about No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man :

As someone who has not attended Burning Man – too dusty, no can do – and as someone who has paid a lot of attention to the art that has come out of this cultural phenomena, I can assure you this show will deliver on spectacle. The seemingly limitless confines of the desert inspire artists to work on a grand scale, lending to the creation of wondrous experiences. Go feel the Burn, baby.
