Present Tense 2019: Task of Remembrance

Chinese Culture Center
Present Tense: Task of Remembrance explores the ways artists and their communities continue to build and engage with memory, the weight of history, and responsibility of remembering. Inspired by the 30th anniversary of important upheavals like the Protests at Tiananmen Square, the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the Loma Prieta Earthquake, participating artists and art collectives--from the Bay Area--will showcase works across a variety of mediums.
This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock has to say about Present Tense 2019: Task of Remembrance :
The Present Tense Biennial reflects on the complexity and responsibility of remembering the past. This year it considers the anniversary of global upheaval 30 years ago, following student protests in Tiananmen Square, the Loma Prieta Earthquake and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Featuring works by Sofía Córdova, Related Tactics, Tina Takemoto and Jenifer Wofford, among many others.
