The Silence of Others

Roxie Theater

This film reveals the epic struggle of victims of Spain's 40-year dictatorship under General Franco, as they organize a groundbreaking international lawsuit and fight a "pact of forgetting" around the crimes they suffered.

This is what SF/Arts curator Sura Wood had to say about The Silence of Others :

Shot over a period of six years, Almudena Carracedo and Robert Bahar’s searing doc examines the suffering of victims and survivors of General Franco’s brutal 40-year dictatorship in Spain and their attempts to secure justice for the crimes committed against them. The film weaves together history and personal stories of atrocities perpetrated by murderers and torturers who went free under the country’s controversial 1977 Amnesty Law.
