Art Wall: Carlos Amorales

UC Berkeley Art Museum Pacific Film Archive

In this new commission for the BAMPFA Art Wall, entitled Ghost Demonstration, Amorales draws from the multiple histories of mural art in Mexico, the political demonstrations that occurred in Berkeley in the 1960s (as well as more recent events), and protests in the United Kingdom in the 1980s.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock has to say about Art Wall: Carlos Amorales :

Mexico-based artist Carlos Amorales occupies BAMPFA’s massive, two-story 30- x 63-foot Art Wall, free to view at the museum’s entrance, with “Ghost Demonstration,” an homage to both the socially conscious mural art of Mexico and historic radical protest actions in Great Britain, around the U.S. and most recently in Berkeley, realized through stencils, archival footage and internet imagery.
