The Bald Soprano

The Cutting Ball Theater

In celebration of its twenty years, Cutting Ball is reprising its hit 2009 production of The Bald Soprano, Ionesco's quintessential absurdist masterpiece where chaos cheerfully reigns over logic.

This is what SF/Arts curator Jean Schiffman had to say about The Bald Soprano :

Cutting Ball returns to its absurdist roots for the end of its 20th-anniversary season, reprising its 2008 production of Eugène Ionesco’s downright nutty comedy in which two middle-class couples seem to be conversing in empty banalities—but are they? It’s Ionesco’s first play, from 1950. Former artistic director Rob Melrose, who translated it from the French, is back in town to direct it.
