Jenkins Johnson Gallery is pleased to present Summertime..., a group exhibition featuring artists working across disciplines. This international show brings together emerging artists with more established ones, creating a dialogue contextualized by the energy of San Francisco in Summer. Included in the exhibition are artists Wesaam Al-Badry, Ben Aronson, Scott Fraser, Julia Fullerton-Batten, Hendrik Kerstens, Aida Muluneh, Blessing Ngobeni, and Gordon Parks.
Gordon Parks, Untitled, Alabama, 1956 does not officially provide the basis for this group exhibition exploring summertime, but it does the work. Parks’ image of two little girls wearing Sunday dresses and ribbons in their hair, stepping barefoot into a pond, delicately pouring imaginary pond water “tea” for one another, summarizes all the languid possibilities of summer and this show.
