One Child Nation

Landmark Theatres

Nanfu Wang and Jialing Zhang take a deep dive into the troubling stories behind China's now defunct one-child population control policies that were enforced for 35 years until 2015. After emigrating to the U.S., Wang returned to China to interview her own family - they had hoped for a son - and investigate the sinister consequences of a policy that included forced sterilization and daughters abandoned, murdered or turned over to human traffickers
