Come ride historic transit vehicles you rode as a San Francisco kid and others that your parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents rode. Restored SF streetcars, cable cars, and buses take you back to a world gone away. Plus other wonderful streetcars from around the world. Most rides are free, and there are events for kids of all ages in the plaza across from the SF Railway Museum at 77 Steuart St. across from the Ferry Building.
Vintage streetcars rarely seen are out this weekend and riders are allowed to board, for free, and joy ride all the way from the SF Railway Museum to the Wharf and back. Residents and tourists will delight on cars like the “Dinky” 578, built in 1896 and thought to be the oldest in operation, or 1934’s “Boat tram” with its nautical air whistle from Blackpool, built for the English seaside resort.
