San Francisco State University

Is anything original anymore? This new exhibition explores the value of originality in the age of reboots, remixes, appropriation, infringement and deep fakes. While modern art emphasizes originality, truth and identity, artworks themselves are often preserved through replicas. Today's artists exist precariously in a culture that increasingly normalizes appropriation, knockoffs and forgeries, especially online. Curated by Kevin B. Chen.
