Singing Whitman In His 200th Year

Grace Cathedral

Celebrate the bicentennial of Walt Whitman, one of America's most significant and influential poets, with a sung performance by Daniel Redman of the complete 45-poem Calamus set from the 1860 edition of Leaves of Grass. Whitman described these poems as his "frailest leaves"--and they are some of his most beautiful and powerful, drawing on themes of love, democracy, friendship, loss, queerness and difference.
