divisions the empire has sown

Bhumi B. Patel and pateldanceworks will permiere divisions the empire has sown November 16th and 17th at The Finnish Hall in Berkeley. "divisions the empire has sown" looks at Indian Partition, the colonization of tea, and the violence embedded in forced migration. This work is incredibly imperative at this cultural moment in which immigration and forced migration are under attack without enough public discourse on their systemic roots.

This is what SF/Arts curator Heather Desaulniers has to say about divisions the empire has sown :

This fall, Artistic Director Bhumi B. Patel and pateldanceworks take on an urgently topical narrative in the world premiere of “divisions the empire has sown,” co-presented by The Finnish Hall as part of their Artists & Activists in Residence program. An immersive, movement experience set to an original score by Rachel Austin, the performers will guide the audience through the space as they unpack themes of colonization.
