Hannah Collins: I Will Make Up a Song

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

This presentation brings together still photography and an immersive video installation exploring the work of Egyptian Modernist architect Hassan Fathy. Searching for models that might address the urgent contemporary problems of housing, poverty, and environmental sustainability, Collins reconsiders Fathy's mid-twentieth-century utopian experiments in sustainable architecture and rural community building at New Gourna and and New Baris in Egypt.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock has to say about Hannah Collins: I Will Make Up a Song :

British contemporary artist and filmmaker Hannah Collins’ still photography and immersive video installation focuses on the work of Egyptian Modernist architect Hassan Fathy, whose mid-20th century experiments in sustainable architecture and community building still offer insights into the 21st century global challenges of housing, poverty, and environmental sustainability.
