Sea Lions' Arrival at Pier 39

Pier 39

It's been 30 years since the rambunctious sea lions took up residence at Pier 39, becoming an attraction beloved by tourists and locals. It's not certain why they appeared there just after the Loma Prieta earthquake, but their arrival will be celebrated with a weekend that includes a walking tour/encounter with the pinnipeds to an exhibition of 6-foot sea lion statues, painted by 30 local artists.
