Carnaval San Francisco

Carnaval San Francisco -- the annual, free, two-day festival and grand parade drawing thousands of attendees and featuring international music, dance, arts & crafts and cuisine -- announces that Los Tigres del Norte will headline its festival. The world-renowned, Grammy and Latin Grammy award-winning band is slated to give a free performance on Saturday, May 25th at 3 p.m. in the Mission District's Calle 24 Latino Cultural District during Carnaval's 41st annual celebration, themed, "La Cultural Cura -- Culture Heals."

This is what SF/Arts curator Laura Fraenza has to say about Carnaval :

Carnaval, an inclusive celebration of traditions from Cuba, Jamaica, Japan, Bolivia and beyond, proves that there is healing power to the spirit of thousands joining together in a parade to the hypnotic beat of drums with their “escolas,” in costumes ranging from barely-there feathers to swishing Bahia skirts, and that indeed “La Cultura Cura,” as this year’s theme affirms.
