About
Jan Meissner, a New York Photographer. Her photographs are simply painterly. They’re contemporary homages to early Renaissance paintings and frescoes albeit with the aid of a very modern, mechanical and electronic instrument rather than brushes, oils and tincture.

A pair of pixelated pursed lips. A woman in a black slip half hidden by a sheer curtain. A wine glass on a coffee table. A figure in shadow sitting alone in the dark. A bare thigh against a velvet black backdrop. Photographer Jan Meissner's work feels voyeuristic because it is; over the past two years she has used a long range lens to capture fragments of life through distant windows she can spot from her Manhattan rooftop at night. The colors are deep, like the Dutch masters, but the vibe is a tad more titillating.
