SAN FRANCISCO JAZZ FESTIVAL VIRTUAL EDITION
Jun 03 - 25, 2021
available only to SFJAZZ Members. Starting at just $5 per month or $50 annually, and enjoy all of these exciting concerts.
About
First launched as a two-day festival in 1983, the San Francisco Jazz Festival is the foundational annual June concert event upon which SFJAZZ was built. Much like a jazz quartet on the bandstand, we will be improvising this year and doing things a little differently due to COVID-19 regulations.
This June we will present a virtual edition of the festival, including 18 exclusive broadcasts featuring highlights from past Festival performances, world premiere concerts, a rare film on Thelonious Monk, powerful events honoring Juneteenth, and more.
SF/Arts Curator Insight
SFJAZZ is taking a deep dive into its extensive archives and presenting a hybrid of the annual June jazz festival, with virtual performances featuring artists like vocalist Jazzmeia Horn–who’s amassed an impressive string of awards including the Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Competition–drummer Brian Blade & The Fellowship Band, saxophonist Melissa Aldana, and pianist Harold López-Nussa from Havana. On June 17, a special performance will be streamed live.
