San Francisco’s ‘Another Hole in the Head’ Film Festival is a three-week-plus cinematic excursion into the realms of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, and assorted other genres. Another Hole in the Head pulls together a diverse collection of films representing all varieties and budgetary considerations, providing a unique vehicle for independent cinema. It will also take place On Demand via Eventive for those who cannot attend the live screenings.

This staple of chills, thrills, fantasy and gore arrives just in time for the holidays. Purists, however, may faint at the mere prospect of a new restoration of Fritz Lang’s 1927 German expressionist/sci-fi masterpiece, “Metropolis,” colorized by AI, with a score by New Pollutants, an indie band inspired by an 80s-flavored sound combining synthwave, saxophone and strings. If you’ve been longing for Arnold Schwarzenegger in swaggering Mr. Universe form, “Conan the Barbarian” (1982), “a night of psychedelic doom,” courtesy of a live original score by SleepBomb, is for you.
