About
A Point Stretched highlights artworks in a variety of mediums that stretch, compact, and warp the viewer’s sense of time.
The artworks of Sky Hopinka, a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation and a descendant of the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians, traverse the legacies of colonial oppression and Native resistance through meditations on the continuities between past and present.
SF/Arts Curator Insight
Two new exhibitions are now available at the San José Museum of Art. 2022 MacArthur Fellow, Sky Hopinka, brings video work that explores the relationship between the histories of incarceration and settler colonialism in the United States. At the same time, “A Point Stretched” brings together incredible artists like Ranu Mukherjee and Diana Al-Hadid for an exhibition which disturbs notions of time and destabilizes hierarchies of history. You’ll want to be on time to these two exhibitions, open until July 9, 2023.
