About
Anthony Meier is pleased to present Bay Area Music Village, a solo exhibition of new work by Los Angeles-based artist Dave Muller, opening reception Saturday 16 November from 2 - 4 pm. Renowned for an oeuvre informed by a lifelong fascination with music and its power to shape identity and cultural dialogue, this exhibition represents a homecoming for the artist as it explores the vibrant cultural landscape of his roots in the Bay Area.
SF/Arts Curator Insight
As a music fanboy, I have long loved LA-based Dave Muller's work. His "Top Tens," human-size paintings of record album spines, function as self- portraits. Objects we obsess over, that we have and continue to cherish, often say more about us than words could ever express. Disco mirror balls of various sizes reflect various landscapes seen through colored lights (and colored glasses.) A hand-painted mural evoking the artist's Bay Area childhood covers the walls. Transforming the gallery into a scrap book, DJ booth, and record store? Yes, please.
