Bright Star - POSTPONED
About
When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past—and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives. With beautiful melodies and powerfully moving characters, the story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion. An uplifting theatrical journey that holds you tightly in its grasp, BRIGHT STAR is as refreshingly genuine as it is daringly hopeful.
Message from 42nd Moon:
42nd Street Moon has decided to postpone the upcoming production of BRIGHT STAR, which was scheduled to be the final show of the 2023/2024 season, in order to make a concrete plan to move forward in a fiscally healthy way. We apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment we know this causes, but we are planning to include BRIGHT STAR in our 2024/2025 Season. We will honor all ticket-holder and subscriber purchases for the new dates.
SF/Arts Curator Insight
Steve Martin and Edie Brickell wrote this soulful bluegrass musical set in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. Interweaving past and present--the 1920s and ’40s--it encompasses both a romance and a search for a long-lost child and is said to be inspired by a true story. Cindy Goldfield directs for 42nd Street Moon, the small company that offers rarely produced musicals.
