About

The de Young museum is the first U.S. venue for Calder-Picasso, featuring more than 100 sculptures, paintings, drawings, and graphics by Alexander Calder (1898–1976) and Pablo Picasso (1881–1973), two of the most innovative and influential artists of the twentieth century. Conceived and curated by the artist's grandsons this exhibition reveals the intriguing parallels between these great innovators and the unique visions that make each distinct.

SF/Arts Curator Insight

Two influential modern artists are on display at the de Young this Spring. Calder – Picasso is a landmark exhibition devised by the artists’ grandsons, Alexander S.C Rower and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso. The exhibition showcases the relationship between the elder artists, providing museum-goers an exciting experiential survey of modern art.
