Emily Gui: Related To Items You Recently Viewed
About
Emily Gui is a Bay Area-based artist and educator. Using collections of discarded or overlooked commonplace objects as both subject and material, her recent work highlights a shift from utility to refuse, lingering on the relationship between consumer and object.
Related To Items You Recently Viewed is our first exhibition with Emily Gui and our second [working] project at 536 Davis St.

By transforming vacant retail space into temporary studios, [working] creates a new way for artists to realize large scale projects in direct dialogue with the public. [working] is a program operated by Problem Library, a non-profit organization that develops practical models for approaching complex problems in society with a focus on art, education and cultural infrastructure.
