Focusing on solidarity, community and queer history, Frameline’s crackerjack lineup includes “Outerlands,” Bay Area writer/director Elena Oxman’s San Francisco-set, debut drama starring “Billions’ standout, Asia Kate Dillon; “Twinless,” perhaps the first, if ever movie about twin bereavement; “Lesbian Space Princess“, an off-planet animated comedy and, the exuberant “Assembly,” which documents Rashaad Newsome’s transformation of an old military base into an LGBTQ+ performance arena for Black and queer identity, injustice and resilience expressed through dance, song, poetry and ballroom voguing.
