About
On Tuesday, March 17 at The Castro Theatre, Frameline will honor John Waters with the Frameline Award, presented by local drag icon and artist Peaches Christ, and follow the award presentation with a screening of Waters’ black-comedy crime film Serial Mom (1994), featuring live commentary from the filmmaker himself. After the film, Frameline’s Allegra Madsen will moderate an onstage Q&A with Waters and Peaches Christ.
Trust Us: The only thing worse than wearing white after Labor Day is missing out on this chance to watch transgressive independent cinema alongside the Pope of Trash.
SF/Arts Curator Insight
Don’t miss the notorious, deliciously wicked writer/director John Waters, aka “the pope of trash” in an onstage conversation celebrating Frameline’s 50th anniversary. The man who brought us Divine and Johnny Depp in handcuffs in “Cry-Baby,” a coup Waters still boasts about, gleefully relished the outrage provoked by films such as: “Pink Flamingos,” “Hairspray” and “Female Trouble.” And, oh, does he ever have tales to tell. Rest assured he will provide transgressive commentary on “Serial Mom” (1994), starring Kathleen Turner, and a host of other subjects.
