About
Director of the classic film, Frankenstein James Whale is spending his retirement away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Tom Mullen provides a theatrical adaptation of Christopher Bram’s novel and Oscar-winning film, with a plunge into the inner soul.
Gods & Monsters is a West Coast Premiere in the Decker Theatre.
SF/Arts Curator Insight
Is it significant that the word monsters appears in the title of two stage plays opening in March? New Conservatory’s West Coast premiere is drawn from Christopher Bram’s 1955 novel “Gods and Monsters” about James Whale (who directed the 1931 film “Frankenstein”) and from Bram’s 1998 film, “Gods and Monsters.” This stage adaptation by Tom Mullen explores Whale’s inner demons, with a cast of five. M. Graham Smith directs; Donald Currie is Whale.
