About
Ten days of environmental themed films from around the world and around The Bay. With this festival SF IndieFest aims to celebrate the blue marble we all live on and also confront the challenges we face in maintaining a livable planet. Most of us don’t want to up and move to Mars just yet, so this is a 10 day presentation of films to inspire us all to help save our asses.
SF/Arts Curator Insight
Brought to you by the folks behind Indiefest, this is not your daddy’s environmental film event. Take “The Cigarette Surfboard,” where San-Francisco-based director, Ben Judkins, follows a Santa Cruz surfer, who fashioned a board from 10,000 cigarette butts scavenged from California beaches, provoking questions like: does the board smell of stale tobacco? In “Running for the Mountains” Mill Valley filmmakers delve into West Virginia’s shady, dark money politics and call out current Senator Joe Manchin and the coal baron likely to succeed him.
