MERCURY 20 presents Further Into The Place, a solo exhibition by 2025 Juried Show winner Najee Tobin. This photographic project draws on 1960s–80s sci-fi and Afro-Surrealist motifs, paying homage to Sun Ra, Funkadelic, and others. Using objects found in Black family homes, Tobin’s characters are guided by ancestral symbols and spiritual avatars, inviting viewers to explore the polylithic nature of Black diasporic galaxies.
