Rialto Pictures: 25th Anniversary Salute
About
Film distribution is an essential part of the theatrical film experience; quite literally, it would not be possible for BAMPFA to showcase many essential films from the history of cinema without the stellar work of Rialto Pictures, led by Bruce Goldstein, founder and president, and Adrienne Halpern, the company’s copresident since 1998.
SF/Arts Curator Insight
Cinephiles rejoice! Boutique distributor, Rialto, founded by Bruce Goldstein a quarter century ago, serves up its enviable catalog of digitally restored American and international classics. Titles include: Jean-Luc Godard’s visually sumptuous “Contempt” (1963), starring an alluring Brigitte Bardot as a wayward wife, and double trouble from noir maestro Jean-Pierre Melville; “Le Cercle Rouge, featuring Alain Delon and a half-hour heist sequence sans dialogue, and his tense French Resistance thriller, “Army of Shadows,” with Simone Signoret and Lina Ventura.
