Kicking off its usual assemblage of unorthodox non-fiction fare, DocFest opens with “Ricochet,” from the late Jeff Adachi. The former SF Public Defender represented the undocumented immigrant who shot and killed a young woman on Pier 14, an infamous case attended by a national media circus. “With This Breath I Fly” recounts the horrific abuse, subjugation and subsequent imprisonment of two brave Afghan women, and “Objects” chronicles our abiding passion for stuff.
