Stephanie Crawford and Meg Lipke
About
Rebecca Camacho Presents is pleased to announce a dual exhibition of new works by painters Stephanie Crawford and Meg Lipke. Complimentary in fluidity of form and color, the true symbiosis between the artists comes from their non-conformity of practice; Crawford and Lipke create outside of standardized norms.
SF/Arts Curator Insight
Stephanie Crawford's paintings are as colorful as her life story. A celebrated jazz vocalist, the trans artist joined drag with blues in the 1980s New York performance art scene. Her splashy paintings seem to begin with lines that she intentionally draws outside of. Crawford's work is playfully paired with Meg Lipke's medium-defying cut, stuffed, and sewn canvases, which look like surreal pillows floating across the gallery's walls.
