Serving the San Francisco Bay Area's LGBTQ community since 1971.

Just opened on the GLBT Historical Society website is the most recent exhibition: “Stories of Our Movement: The BAR at 50.” This digital archive tracks the robust history of the Bay Area Reporter, the oldest continuously published LGBTQ newspaper in the United States. As a San Francisco publication, the BAR catalogues years of Bay Area LGBTQ history. Diving into the archives, you can see pictures capturing perspectives on politics, entertainment, HIV/AIDS, and much more.
Taken together, “Stories of Our Movement” testifies to the rich culture emerging from San Francisco LGBTQ communities for the last five decades.
