Stories of Our Movement: Bay Area Reporter at 50 provides a captivating look at the multitude of exclusives, scoops, crusades and kickers from hundreds of thousands of news stories spanning fifty years of the Bay Area Reporter, the oldest continuously published LGBTQ newspaper in the United States. Serving the San Francisco Bay Area's LGBTQ community since 1971.

Just opened on the GLBT Historical Society website is the most recent exhibition: “Stories of Our Movement: The BAR at 50.” This digital archive tracks the robust history of the Bay Area Reporter, the oldest continuously published LGBTQ newspaper in the United States. As a San Francisco publication, the BAR catalogues years of Bay Area LGBTQ history. Diving into the archives, you can see pictures capturing perspectives on politics, entertainment, HIV/AIDS, and much more.
Taken together, “Stories of Our Movement” testifies to the rich culture emerging from San Francisco LGBTQ communities for the last five decades.
