Sundown Cinema
About
Sundown Cinema is a free outdoor movie series that visits parks around the city.
Moviegoers can expect local food, drinks, music, themed pre-show entertainment, and film selections that celebrate the unique character and beauty of San Francisco and its parks!
SF/Arts Curator Insight
Screened at city parks as night descends, the films are primarily mainstream fare but it’s experiencing them in the great outdoors that’s the bomb. Catch "The Princess and the Frog" at India China Basin 10/4, or "Nightmare Before Christmas" at McLaren Park 10/18. Of local interest is “SF’s Lost Landscapes: Found Home Movies,” (Duboce Park 9/6) from Rick Prelinger, a Bay Brea film historian and archivist. His compilations of a vanished San Francisco draw from his extensive collection of historic footage of daily life, old neighborhoods and forgotten sights captured by amateurs and news cameraman.
