About
Continuing the effort of suicide prevention, The Marsh has added free performances of “The Waiting Period.” Offering no-cost public performances to remove all barriers for those who may be struggling with depression themselves, this surprisingly funny show, written and performed by playwright and actor Brian Copeland and developed with and directed by David Ford, outlines Copeland’s own struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts.

The Marsh is known as "a breeding ground for new performance." It was launched in 1989 by Founder and Artistic Director Stephanie Weisman with two venues now in San Francisco and Berkeley. A leading outlet for solo performers, The Marsh's specialty has been hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle as "solo performances that celebrate the power of storytelling at its simplest and purest."
