Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an autofiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter, and they were separated by the circumstances of life. After years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.

When two of our finest actresses appear in the same project, attention must be paid. Here Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton headline Pedro Almodóvar’s latest feature and the first the Spanish filmmaker has made in English. Always a writer/director with a keen empathy for women and highly attuned to his actresses, his incandescent stars portray a terminally ill former war reporter (Swinton,) and her old friend, a novelist (Moore,) who she invites to help her through the final chapter of her life.
