SF/Arts Curator Insight
Japanese composer and saxophonist Yasuaki Shimizu is hitting San Francisco on his first North American tour. A beloved icon of the ‘80s Japanese music scene, he’s composed for Yellow Magic Orchestra’s Ryuichi Sakamoto, worked with Björk, and soundtracked multiple films. His light-hearted yet complex 1982 album Kakashi, or his inventive collection of TV jingles Music For Commercials, are both excellent places to start.
